Getting Started: Market Research

Say the word 'market research' to most people and you either imagine someone standing in the town centre with a clipboard, poised and ready to ask strangers questions or someone ringing people to ask whether they would be interested in taking part in a survey.

It doesn't have to mean either of these!

Market research is simply finding out more about the market in which you will be operating to find out the answers to any of the following:

  • which types of coaching are popular
  • whether people are likely to be interested in what you're offering
  • who you are likely to be competing with
